Pairings Established for 1999 ACC Lacrosse Tournaments

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The first day pairings for the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's and Women's Lacrosse Tournaments were established on Sunday with the end of regular season play. Both tournaments will be hosted by the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill next weekend.
Top seeds were earned by Duke in the men's tournament and by Maryland in the women's tournament. Those two teams are also the highest ranked teams in the ACC in their respective national rankings with the Blue Devil men currently #2 in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll and the Terrapin women #1 in the United State Women's Lacrosse Association ranking.
The men's tournament will be held at UNC's Fetzer Field next Friday, April 23 and Sunday, April 25. In the semifinal games on Friday, second-seeded Virginia (2-1 in the ACC) will meet third-seeded Maryland (1-2 in the ACC) in a 6 p.m. game on Friday. That will be followed at approximately 8:30 p.m. by a semifinal game between top-seeded Duke (2-1 in the ACC) and fourth-seeded North Carolina (1-2 in the ACC), the tournament host. The championship game in the men's tournament will be played on Sunday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field. Admission to the men's tournament each day is $5 for adults and $2 for students, children and senior citizens.
The women's tournament begins on Saturday, April 24 at Francis E. Henry Stadium on the Carolina campus. In the semifinal games on Saturday top-seeded Maryland (3-0 in the ACC) will play fourth-seeded North Carolina (1-2 in the ACC) at 1 p.m. and second-seeded Duke (1-2 in the ACC) will play third-seeded Virginia (1-2 in the ACC) at 3 p.m. The championship game will be played on Sunday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at Henry Stadium. Admission for the women's tournament each day is $3 for adults and $2 for students, children and senior citizens.
