World University Games Basketball Team Tops Russia

The USA Basketball Women's World University Games team, which includes UNC forward LaQuanda Barksdale, will face undefeated Spain on Monday for the gold medal. The U.S. team, now 4-1, earned a spot in the final with Saturday's 87-79 win over Russia. The championship game is scheduled for 12:30 EDT and will be played at San Moix Stadium in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
The U.S. led Russia 56-50 at halftime of Saturday's game, but Russia tied the score at 67-67 with 11:38 remaining. The U.S. never trailed, however, and slowly pulled away. Purdue's Katie Douglas led in scoring with 18 points while Georgia's Kelly Miller had 17. Barksdale provided six points and six rebounds.
