U.S. Women Earn Silver at World University Games

The U.S. World University Games women's basketball team wrapped up its competition in Spain on July 12 with a silver medal and a 4-2 record. The U.S. team fell 57-48 to Spain in Monday's final after shooting 27.9 percent from the field in the championship game. Purdue's Katie Douglas led the U.S. in scoring with 14 points. North Carolina's LaQuanda Barksdale had six points and five rebounds.
In the six games of the World University Games competition, Barksdale, a rising junior, averaged 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds.
