UNC Men's Golf Stands Ninth After Two Rounds

CARY, N.C. - North Carolina's men's golf team fought unusually cold conditions for April and is in ninth place with a 298 total after two rounds of The Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs. Max Harris led the Tar Heels and stands tied for fifth place individually with a 143 total after firing rounds of 73 and two-under-par 70.
N.C. State, who along with North Carolina, is the co-host for the 54-hole event, leads the field of 12 teams with a four-over 580 total. East Tennessee State and North Florida are four strokes back in a tie for second place at 584 while Wake Forest is in fourth place at 585, Minnesota is fifth at 586 and Kansas is sixth at 588.
Chris Wisler of East Tennessee State leads all individuals after firing a seven-under 137 total. N.C. State Carl Pettersson is two shots back in second place at five-under 139 while Tulsa's Martin Maritz is third at 141 and Kansas' Ryan Vermeer stands in fourth place with a 142 total.
Harris led the Tar Heel effort with a 143 total and is tied for fifth place. Rob Simmons is tied for 19th place at with a 148 total while Paul Daniel is tied for 32nd at 150 and Ted Haley and Brad Hyler are tied for 56th place with 154 totals.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Saturday at MacGregor Downs Country Club which features a par 72, 6,776-yard layout. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
