Barksdale Named All-ACC

For the second consecutive season, North Carolina forward LaQuanda Barksdale has earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team. A senior who leads the conference in scoring with 18.9 points per game and currently ranks second in rebounding with 11.6 per game, Barksdale was listed on 63 of 64 ballots cast and was voted to the first team on 58 of those. She was the leading vote getter, with 183 points out of a possible 192.
Also earning All-ACC honors was sophomore guard Coretta Brown, who was voted to the second team. Carolina's starter at the point, she averages 16.3 points and a league-best 6.6 assists per game.
Both Barksdale and Brown have started every game this season for the Tar Heels, who are 14-13 (7-9) heading into the ACC Tournament, which begins Friday in Greensboro, N.C. UNC is the No. 7 seed and opens play at 6 p.m. against No. 8 seed Georgia Tech.
