BALTIMORE, MD. - North Carolina's men's lacrosse team jumped from 15th to a tie for 12th in this week's STX/U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches poll. Back to back road wins over Navy and Delaware have helped propel the Heels up in the standings after a disheartening loss to Bucknell in the second game of the season.
Syracuse and Princeton remained #1 and #2 in the poll this week with the Orangemen receiving seven first place votes and the Tigers three.
UNC will play the Butler Bulldogs this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field. Following that game the Heels will play six successive games against teams currently ranked in the Top 11 in the nation. UNC will host #11 Duke on March 21, play at #3 Maryland on March 24, host #9 Johns Hopkins on March 31, play at #7 (tied) Virginia on April 7, play at #10 UMBC on April 14 and then play one of the three aforementioned ACC teams in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Orlando, Fla. on April 20.
