CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 12th annual Intercollegiate Golf Tournament will be played April 14-15 and will once again feature some of the nation's top golf teams. North Carolina and N.C. State join forces to host the 54-hole event which will take place at Finley Golf Course, a par 72, 7,027-yard layout, in Chapel Hill. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Ten of this year's 12-team field are ranked in the top 50 in the country in the latest Mastercard Rankings. Augusta State boasts the highest ranking in this year's event as the Jaguars are ranked sixth. Co-host N.C. State is ranked 10th while East Tennessee State is ranked 15th, Wake Forest is 19th, Minnesota is 23rd, Duke is 25th, Kansas is 32nd, North Carolina is 34th, Tulsa is 37th and Colorado is 49th.
The tournament field includes 11 players that are ranked in the top 50 nationally in the Mastercard Individual Rankings. Three are ranked in the top 10 - East Tennessee State's Chris Wisler is ranked seventh while N.C. State's David Sanchez is ranked eighth and Augusta State's Jamie Elson is ranked ninth. Other ranked players include Oliver Wilson of Augusta State (19th), Michael Webb of Augusta State (20th), Matt Krauss of Duke (28th), Chris Mundorf of N.C. State (32nd), David Inglis of Tulsa (34th), Dustin Bray of North Carolina (45th), Brent Wanner of Wake Forest (47th) and Bill Haas of Wake Forest (50th).
All teams will participate in a practice round the morning of Friday, April 13th, followed by a college/amateur event that afternoon. Tournament competition begins Saturday morning at 7:50 a.m. with 36 holes to be played that day. The final round will be played on Sunday beginning at 7:50 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow the final round at approximately 2:00 on Sunday.
