Duke Claims Top Team, Individual Honors At The Intercollegiate

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Duke University shot a one-under-par 287 in the final round Sunday to claim top honors at The Intercollegiate. The Blue Devils' three-round total of eight-under 856 gave them the victory. Kevin Streelman led Duke's charge to victory by winning the individual race. Streelman's three-under-par 69 in the final round gave him a three-round total of seven-under 209 for the tournament. Streelman won The Intercollegiate by one stroke over North Carolina State's David Sanchez, who had led the field after two rounds. Sanchez shot a three-over-par 75 in the final round to end the tournament with a six-under-par 210.Augusta State's Jamie Elson shot a final-round best score with a five-under-par 67 to finish the tournament in third place, two strokes behind Streelman's tournament-winning total of 209. Blue Devil Brandon LaCroix finished in a five-way tie for fourth place with a four-under-par 212 as the second-highest placing Duke golfer.
In the rest of the team competition, Wake Forest remained in second place with a two-over-par 290 in the final round and a three-round total of 858, two strokes behind the winning Blue Devils. North Carolina claimed sole possession of third place with a three-round total score of 860 after shooting a three-over-par 291 on Sunday. North Carolina State, which led the tournament after two rounds, finished in fourth place with an even-par three-round total of 864 after shooting a nine-over-par 297 on Sunday.
Carolina's Johno Harris shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to lead the Tar Heels to their second-highest finish so far this spring. Harris' three-round total of 214 put him tied for ninth place at two-under-par with Wake Forest's Bill Haas, who had been in a three-way tie for second after two rounds. Freshman Dustin Bray finished one stroke behind senior Harris with a one-under-par 215. After shooting a one-over 73 in the final round, Bray finished tied for eleventh place with East Tennessee State's Thomas Lee and Kansas' Conrad Roberts. Ramon Bescansa, who also shot a 73 in the final round, remained one stroke behind Bray to finish in a three-way tie as well for 14th place, with an even-par total of 216. Rob Simmons and Jeremy Elliott rounded out the Tar Heel golfers with three-round totals of 222 and 224, placing them tied for 33rd place and tied for 40th place, respectively.
The tournament was played at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, NC. Finley features a par-72, 7,027-yard layout.
