Chapel Hill, N.C. - The 13th annual Intercollegiate Golf Tournament will be played April 13-14 and will once again feature some of the nation's top golf teams. North Carolina and NC State join forces to host the 54-hole event which will take place at Finley Golf Course, a par 72, 7,057-yard layout, in Chapel Hill. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Nine of this year's 12-team field are ranked in the top 50 in the country in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. Wake Forest boasts the highest ranking in this year's event as the Demon Deacons are ranked third. Co-host NC State is ranked 19th while Minnesota is ranked 23rd, SMU is 29th, Kansas is 36th, Tulsa is 37th, Duke is 38th, North Florida is 43rd and East Tennessee State is 50th.
The tournament field includes six players who are ranked in the top 50 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings. Two are ranked in the top 30 - Wake Forest's Bill Haas is ranked seventh while North Carolina's Dustin Bray is ranked 26th. Other ranked players include Brent Wanner of Wake Forest (31st), Garth Mulroy of NC State (41st), Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt (45th), and Franklin Hatchett of SMU (47th).
All teams will participate in a practice round the morning of Friday, April 12th, followed by a college/amateur event that afternoon. Tournament competition begins Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. with 36 holes to be played that day. The final round will be played on Sunday beginning at 8:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow the final round at approximately 2:00 on Sunday.
