Bray and Silva Compete at the Amateur

University of North Carolina golfers, junior Dustin Bray and freshman Kevin Silva, have completed play at the first round of the US Amateur in Bloomfield Hills, MI to be held August 19-25.
ray turned in even par round of 70 at the Oakland Hills Country Club - South Course while Silva posted a two-over par 72 on the North Course. Bray is currently tied for 26th, while Silva is tied at 85th of the 301 player field. After today's round of stoke play, the field will be cut to 64 players for match play to commence on Wednesday morning.
ray and Silva both qualified for the national amateur event through sectional qualifying on August 6th. Bray fired rounds of 72-63 - 135 to advance in a tie for first place at Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morgantown, N.C. Silva also tied for first, but he advanced from the Middletown, R.I. sectional at Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, with a score of 141.
Stroke play results can be followed on the United States Golf Association website at www.usamateur.org. Match play will be televised from August 21-25 on ESPN.
