Carolina's Bray Advances to Second Round of U.S. Amateur

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Dustin Bray, a junior on this year's University of North Carolina men's golf team, advanced to the second round of the U.S. Amateur by defeating Scott Harrington of Northwestern, five and four. Bray, a native of Asheboro, N.C., takes on long-time amateur Jerry Courville of Milford, Conn., in today's second round.
ray advanced to match play after tying for second place in medal play with a three-under-par 137 total, two strokes behind medalist Bill Haas. Kevin Silva, a freshman on this year's Carolina team, carded a 152 in medal play and did not advance to match play.
This year's U.S. Amateur Championship is being played on the famed par 70, 6,988-yard South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club.
