Carolina's Bray Advances To Quarterfinals Of U.S. Amateur

Bloomfield Township, Mich. - Dustin Bray, a junior on this year's University of North Carolina men's golf team, advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur by carding wins in the second and third rounds.
In the longest match thus far, Bray, a native of Asheboro, N.C., outlasted long-time amateur Jerry Courville of Milford, Conn., in 20 holes in the second round of play. Bray birdied the par-five second hole to defeat Courville as neither player held more than a one-up lead at any time during the match.
In the third round, Bray defeated Camilo Villegas, a junior at the University of Florida. Bray's four-and-three win included an eagle on the 12th hole to give him a four-stroke advantage.
ray plays Ryan Moore, a sophomore at UNLV and native of Puyallup, Wash., in today's quarterfinal match which begins at 2:30 EDT.
This year's U.S. Amateur Championship is being played on the famed par 70, 6,988-yard South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club.
