Four Tar Heels Named Preseason All-Americas

BALTIMORE, MD. - Four members of the 2003 University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team have been named to the preseason Division I All-America Team selected by Inside Lacrosse and Face Off Yearbook. Senior midfielder Austin Garrison and junior defenseman Ronnie Staines were named to the third team while sophomore attackman Jed Prossner and sophomore midfielder Bryant Will were named to the honorable mention team.
These four players will be amongst the leaders of a Tar Heel team which is ranked #9 in the preseason by Inside Lacrosse.
Garrison, from New Canaan, Conn., was a postseason honorable mention All-America selection in 2002. He started all 13 games for the Tar Heels last season and has 12 goals, 12 assists, 24 points and 34 ground balls. Staines, a native of Severna Park, Md., started all 13 games for the Tar Heels as well an dhe had 33 ground balls as a sophomore.
oth Prossner and Will had magnificent freshman seasons, ranking 1-2 on the 8-5 Tar Heel team in 2002 in scoring. Both started all 13 games for UNC. Prossner, from Easton, Md., was the leading scorer with 18 goals, 16 assists and 34 points. Will tied for second on the team in scoring with 29 points, scoring 13 goals and adding 16 assists.
