Dustin Bray Selected To Palmer Cup Team

Chapel Hill, N.C. - Dustin Bray, a junior on North Carolina's golf team, was one of four players named to the 2003 United States Palmer Cup team anounced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Bill Haas of Wake Forest, Adam Rubinson of TCU and Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt were the other U.S. selections. The competition between the United States and their counterparts from Europe will be held July 7-11 at The Kiawah Island Club's Cassique course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The four remaining members of this year's Palmer Cup team will be named at a later date.
ray, the 2002 ACC champion, earned All-ACC honors in 2001 and 2002 and was named to the 2002 PING All-America second-team. Bray has won three tournaments so far this year. He won The International Collegiate and tied for medalist honors at The Ridges Intercollegiate, both played last fall. This spring, he captured the individual title at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Bray has posted two additional top-five finishes this spring. He tied for runner-up honors at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship and tied for fifth place at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic. Bray boasts at 70.73 scoring average this spring and a 70.65 average for the year.
The U.S. team leads the Palmer Cup Series, 4-1-1, and has won all three matches in the United States. Georgia Tech's Bruce Heppler will coach the U.S. squad.
