Carolina's Dustin Bray Semifinalist for Ben Hogan Award

Norman, Okla. - Dustin Bray, a junior on North Carolina's golf team, is one of 11 semifinalists for the 2003 Ben Hogan Award. The announcement was made by Bank of America in cooperation with The Friends of Golf, Colonial Country Club and the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Hogan Award is presented annually to the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III or NAIA golfer, taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during the past 12 months.
ray will be defending his 2002 ACC Individual Championship this weekend as the Tar Heels travel to Old North State at Uwharrie Point in New London, N.C., to play in this year's ACC Tournament. Bray has won four collegiate championships, three this year, and has posted eight top-20 finishes in Carolina's nine tournaments this year. A semifinalist at the 2002 U.S. Amateur, Bray was named to the 2001-02 PING All-America second team and is a two-time All-ACC selection, 2001-02 and 2001-02. He will represent the United States on this summer's Palmer Cup team.
The Hogan Award selection committee will name five finalists on April 25. The winner of the Hogan Award will be announced on May 9 and the presentation banquet will be held at the Colonial Country Club on May 19, the Monday prior to the Bank of America Colonial.
The 2003 Ben Hogan Award semifinalists are as follows: Ricky Barnes, Arizona; Dustin Bray, North Carolina; Bill Haas, Wake Forest; Hunter Mahan, Oklahoma State; Ryan Moore, UNLV; Chris Nallen, Arizona; Adam Rubinson, TCU; D.J. Trahan, Clemson; Justin Walters, NC State; Nick Watney, Fresno State and Oliver Wilson, Augusta State.
Former Tar Heel golfer Mark Wilson was presented the 1996 Ben Hogan Award.
