Chapel Hill, N.C. - Tar Heel Golf School Director and University of North Carolina men's golf coach, John Inman, announces the addition of a very special guest to the staff of the Tar Heel Golf School's 2003 second session. Davis Love III will be in Chapel Hill on July 26th to give the traditional "PGA Tour Clinic" during the session's first day.
"We couldn't be more exited about having Davis at camp this summer," said Inman. "Davis and I were roommates here at Carolina and it is always special to have him back here on campus. The young men coming to our golf school are in for a real treat."
Inman and Love were teammates at Carolina from 1983-1984 and both were three-time All-Americas. They contributed to three Atlantic Coast Conference Championship teams ('81, '83, '84), each won the ACC as an individual (Inman in '82 and Love in '84) and they captured a total of 11 collegiate individual tournament titles as a tandem while at UNC.
To date in 2003 on the PGA Tour, Love has brought home first-place trophies from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, the Players Championship, and the MCI Heritage Classic - adding to his running total of 17 PGA Tour titles. With over $3.9 million in 2003 PGA Tour Earnings, Love ranks second amongst his peers, and with over $23.9 million in career earnings, he is second All-Time on the tour (behind Tiger Woods). Love has served on every Presidents Cup Team since the event's inception in 1994 and he has also represented the United States on every Ryder Cup squad since 1993.
While the July 26th clinic is closed to the public, Tar Heel Golf School's residents (made up of boys between the ages of 9 and 17) will fill the audience at Finley Golf Course and the Chapman Golf Center.
