UNC Men's Golf Team in 17th Place After 36 Holes in the William H. Tucker Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of North Carolina's men's golf team finished the first day of action in the William H. Tucker Invitational with a score of 601, putting them in a tie for 17th place along with Hawaii. Arizona ended atop the leader board, posting a score of 563, 13 under par. Six strokes behind is New Mexico, followed by Nevada and UNLV, who each finished with a 577. Brigham Young rounded out the top five with a 579, while host New Mexico posted a 588. Defending champ Arizona State is not a part of this year's field.
Sitting atop the leader board is Arizona's Henry Liaw, who posted a 67 and 68 in the first two rounds of play. Fellow Wildcat Nathan Lashley posted the best first round with a 66, but now finds himself four shots back of Liaw. New Mexico's Spencer Levin is in second place with a 136, while Nevada's Adam Hagen is tied with Lashley for third with a 139.
North Carolina is led by Martin Ureta who shot a 73 and 75 for the first two rounds of play. Ureta is currently in a eight way tie for 37th place with a 148. The next Tar Heel on the leader board is Jonathan Jackson with a 151.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Saturday with a final round of 18 holes. The 7,350 yard par 72 course is located at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course.
