Latta Claims Third ACC Rookie Honor

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina freshman Ivory Latta has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week following a 25-point performance in Saturday's loss to Duke. The honor is the third of the season for Latta, the conference's Preseason Rookie of the Year.
In UNC's only game last week, an 89-79 loss to Duke, Latta led the Tar Heels with 25 points, her second-highest scoring total of the season. The guard from McConnells, S.C., was 9-for-16 from the field, 3-for-7 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the foul line. She is averaging 14.1 points per game, tied for the team lead with classmate Camille Little, and leads the ACC in three-pointers per game with 2.1.
Duke senior Alana Beard earned ACC Player of the Week honors after scoring 31 points in the win over UNC.
The No. 16 Tar Heels, 18-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play, return to action on Thursday when they host Maryland at Carmichael Auditorium. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
