Tar Heel Men's Lacrosse Program Announces Class Of 2008 Recruits

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program announced its 11-member recruiting class Wednesday as announced by head coach John Haus and his staff. The group includes six players from New York, three from Maryland and two from North Carolina. The prospective student-athletes will enroll at Carolina in the fall of 2004 and join 33 returning lettermen in comprising the 2005 Tar Heel men's lacrosse team.

Brian Burke, Defenseman, 5-11, 175, Fort Salonga, N.Y., St. Anthony's High School
2003 All-Long Island selection; 2003 Long Island Empire State Team; Outstanding takeaway defenseman with an incredible nose for the ball.
Michael Burns, Attackman, 5-9, 170, Garden City, N.Y., Garden City High School
2003 All-County selection; 2003 Long Island Empire State Team; Extremely quick attackman with outstanding vision and a knack for finishing shots.
Brian Connors, Midfielder, 5-10, 170, Manhasset, N.Y., Manhasset High School
2002 and 2003 All-County selection; Lightning fast middie with a rocket shot; Member of Manhasset High School's New York high school class B finalist team.
Jamie DeBole, Midfielder, 5-11, 175, Winston-Salem, N.C., Mt. Tabor High School
Two-time All-State selection; one of the top players in North Carolina.
Rob Driscoll, Midfielder, 5-11, 175, Massapequa, N.Y., St. Anthony's High School
All-Long Island lacrosse selection in 2003; Member of 2003 Long Island Empire State Team; Athletic midfielder who can play at both ends of the field; outstanding shooter with terrific speed.
Fletcher Gregory, Midfielder, 6-2, 180, Charlotte, N.C., Latin School
Morehead Scholar; 2003 All-State midfielder; Member of state champion football and basketball team; great all-around athlete.
Tim Kaiser, Defenseman, 6-1, 200, Timonium, Md., Loyola High School
2003 First-Team All-County selection; 2003 Second-Team Baltimore Sun All-Metro choice; Member of Maryland Bay State All-Star Team; Member of National Honor Society; Extremely athletic defenseman with outstanding stick skills and tremendous checks; Has the ability to play out top and close to the cage.
Tim McCall, Defenseman, 6-8, 200, Yorktown, N.Y., Yorktown High School
Member of Yorktown's Class B state championship team; three-year starter on defense.
Mike Munnelly, Midfielder, 6-0, 180, Garden City, N.Y., Garden City High School
2003 All-County lacrosse selection; 2003 All-Long Island football choice; Hard-nosed midfielder who can play on both sides of the ball; Also a member of the All-Long Island football team.
Nick Tintle, Midfielder/Attackman, 5-9, 180, Levittown, N.Y., MacArthur High School
2003 All-County lacrosse selection; 2003 All-Long Island selection in football; An outstanding middie/attacker who possesses a great mix of speed and power; Was a finalist for the Thorpe Award as the best football player in Nassau County.
Grant Zimmerman, Goalkeeper, 5-8, 160, Cockeysville, Md., Gilman School
2003 Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro; 2003 First Team All-Baltimore City/County Football Team; Second-Team All-Metro Defensive Team; Three-sport athlete in football, basketball and lacrosse; All-Metro in both football and lacrosse; Considered one of the top prep goalies in the nation; Incredible quickness and athleticism.
