Chapel Hill, N.C. - North Carolina men's golf coach John Inman announced Tuesday the signing of Philip Chauncey from Durham, N.C. and Michael Sedacca from Orlando, Fla.
Chauncey is the 2004 Pac Six Conference player of the year when he played for Durham Jordan High School for two years. His last two years are being spent at North Raleigh Christian Academy where he is presently a senior. Chauncey finished in fourth place at the 2005 AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Chateau Elan and is a three-time qualifier for the U.S. Junior where he advanced to the match play round of 64 twice and the round of 32 once.
Sedacca, a senior at Lake Highland Prep, is the 2004-05 Florida junior player of the year. He finished in sixth place at the 2005 Florida State High School Championship. He carded two top-10 and four top-20 finishes in AJGA events. Sedacca is a four-year letterman at Lake Highland Prep and has been captain of his team for two years.
"We are extremely thrilled to have Michael and Philip join the Carolina men's golf program," says Inman. "One of our primary goals is to add young men who are not only great golfers, but also have great character. These two young men exemplify that and we are excited to have them on board.
"Philip is a strong player with extremely sound fundamentals and will make a great addition to our team. Michael is an extremely tough competitor with dogged determination who will bring a competitive nature to our team every afternoon."
