Tar Heels Host UNC Asheville Tuesday

Tipoff
After two games in Mexico at the Caribbean Classic last weekend, the North Carolina women's basketball team (4-0) returns to Chapel Hill to host three games in a four-day span. The week's first action is Tuesday, when the Tar Heels host UNC Asheville for a 6 p.m. game at Carmichael Auditorium.
UNC is ranked seventh in the A.P. poll and eighth in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. UNC Asheville (3-0) is not ranked.
On the air
Tuesday's game will air on the Tar Heel Radio Network, which includes eight stations across the state. WCHL-AM 1360 in Chapel Hill is the flagship.
Taylor Zarzour is in his first year as the Tar Heels' play-by-play announcer, and Jan Boxill provides color commentary.

Tickets
General admission tickets to UNC women's basketball games are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. A limited number of reserved seats are also available, and those tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
Tickets may be purchased at the Carmichael Auditorium ticket window prior to the game or through the UNC ticket office by calling (919) 962-2296 or (800) 722-HEEL. Tickets also are available on the North Carolina website, www.TarHeelBlue.com.
North Carolina students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their UNC One Cards.
Next up
Tuesday's game against UNC Asheville is the first of three home games in a four-day span for UNC. The Tar Heels host Charleston Southern on Thursday and South Florida on Friday. Both games are at Carmichael Auditorium with 7 p.m. tipoffs.
After the USF game, Carolina heads north to face Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic. That game, at the Hartford Civic Center, is next Monday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPN2.

A look at the statistics
Through four games:
Scouting the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville is 3-0 on the season following wins over Jacksonville (65-47 on Nov. 18), Campbell (64-60 on Nov. 19) and Gardner-Web (58-46 on the road on Nov. 22). The team comes to Chapel Hill off a seven-day break between games.
Senior guard Kristal Hood leads the team in scoring with 16.0 points per game. She's shooting .481 percent from the floor (13-27), .864 from the foul line (19-22) and 1.000 (3-3) from three-point range. In the game at Gardner-Webb, she became the 11th player in school history to score 1,000 career points and is seven points away from moving into 10th place on the school's all-time scoring list. Also averaging in double figures this season is sophomore guard Ashton Barton with 11.7 per game. Sophomore Stacy Shepard is the team's top rebounder with 10.7 per game.
As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 62.3 points per game and shooting .385 from the field, .360 from three-point range.
UNCA is coached by Betsy Blose, who has a 40-46 record in her fourth season at the school.
The series against UNC Asheville
The Tar Heels lead the series with UNC Asheville 3-0, with all three meetings coming in the mid-90s. The last meeting was during the 1997-98 season, when Carolina won 90-48 at Carmichael Auditorium on Nov. 25, 1997, in the third game of the season.
