Men Off To A Strong Start At Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The North Carolina mens golf team opened up its spring season with a solid first-round perfromance at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State. After 18 holes the team sits in second place, just one stroke behind the leader, East Tennessee State. The Tar Heels fired a team score of five-under-par 283 to start the tournament.
Carolina Junior Martin Ureta carded a three-under 69 to end the first round in a three-way tie for second with UCF's Fiwon Suh and Northwestern's Kyle Moore. Freshman Robert Riesen and sophomore Barden Berry also finished the first day under par, each with a one-under score of 71. Heading into round-two, Riesen and Berry are in a tie for 10th. UNC senior Jonathan Jackson also earned a spot in the top-20 on Sunday with an even-par score of 72. Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson fired the low-score of the day, with a 66.
Round two of the Seminole Intercollegiate is set to begin at 8:00 am on Monday.
