TAR HEELS SIX BACK AFTER FIRST ROUND

Tallahassee, FL - North Carolina's men's golf team carded a 296 in the first round of fthe Seminole Intercollegiate to put them in sixth place overall and six strokes off the lead. Mississippi State and Auburn are tied for the lead after the first round, each team shooting a combined two-over 290 . College of Charleston is three strokes back after shooting 293. Northwestern is in fourth place after carding a 294, while UAB rounds out the top five with a 295.
rad Revell of N.C. State leads all individuals after shooting a five-under-par 67 in the first round. Two strokes behind is Zach Sucher from UAB and is in second place. Four players are tied for third after shooting a two-under 70 -- Mississippi State's Noah Goldman, Florida State's Song Jeon, East Tennessee State's Seamus Power, and College of Charleston's Chris Rogers.
Leading the Tar Heels was Reed Darsie, who finished the round even par which put him tied for tenth. Martin Ureta shot a one-over 73 to make him tied for 16th. Josh Moore Came in with a two-over 73 putting him in a tie for twenty sixth. Rounding out the Tar Heels team was Barden Barry who shot 77 to be in a tie for 46th and Robert Riesen carded a 79 and is tied for 61st.
The 54-hole event is being played at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida. The tournament continues through Tuesday March 6, 2007.
