Tar Heel Golf Team Finishes Second At Seminole Intercollegiate

Tallahassee, Fla. - The University of North Carolina men's golf team carded a five-over-par 293 in the final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate to finish as the runner-up with an 870 total. The Tar Heels finished five strokes behind champion Auburn which carded an 865 to top the 15-team field. Carolina, the second-round leader, scored 12 strokes higher in the final round than its 281 in the second round.
Carolina senior Martin Ureta, from Santiago, Chile, fired the low round for the Tar Heels, a three-under 69, and finished in seventh place with a two-under 214 total. Reed Darsie, a senior from Chapel Hill, carded a two-over 74 for an even-par 216 to tie for eighth place. Junior Barden Berry, from Kinston, N.C., posted a 75 for a 221 total and tied for 20th place while Josh Moore and Robert Riesen both tied for 41st place with 225 totals. Moore, a junior from Cary, N.C., posted a 75 in the final round while Riesen, a sophomore from Pinehurst, N.C., shot 76.
Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State fired a three-under 69 in the final round for a six-under 210 total to win the individual title. Zach Sucher of Alabama-Birmingham was the runner-up finishing two strokes back with a 212 total after also firing a 69 in the final round. Four players tied for third place at three-under 213 - Auburn's Patton Kizzire and Glenn Northcutt, Mississippi's Chris Rogers and Louisiana State's Chris Wells.
Host Florida State carded an 875 total to finish in third place of the team race, five strokes behind the Tar Heels. East Tennessee State and Alabama-Birmingham tied for fourth place with 878 totals.
The 54-hole event was played at Golden Eagle Country Club which features a par 72, 7,041-yard layout.
