CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--The final game for four Tar Heel senior men's lacrosse players comes Saturday when the No. 10 Tar Heels (8-4) play host to Providence College (3-8) at Fetzer Field at 12 noon. The game also marks the last regular-season game of the 2007 season for Coach John Haus' team which has already won four more games than the 2006 team did.
Tar Heels playing their final home games are senior midfielder David Ryan of Darien, Conn., one of the team's three tri-captains, as well as senior midfielder Ben Staines of Gambrills, Md., senior attackman Sam Wagner of Annapolis, Md. and senior midfielder Tom Sciolla of Moorestown, N.J. Senior statistician Jena Buchan of Mechanicsville, Va. will also be honored in pre-match ceremonies.
The Tar Heels started the season 6-1 and bounced back with a 12-8 win over Fairfield last Sunday after losing three of their previous four matches. Providence started 0-8 and has won three in a row over Wagner, VMI (in overtime) and Marist.
The Tar Heels beat the Friars last year in Providence, R.I. by an 11-7 score in the only previous meeting between the two teams.
