UNC Head Coach Roy Williams:
"We needed to focus coming back from such a long trip. We had a fun time in Hawaii but we did try to get our guys to come back and focus. After a couple of possessions we took Deon and Ed out because I didn't think they were very focused at all. I thought Danny did a real good job. I thought Ty was really dominating, but we took him out early because 22 point, eight assists, one turnover and five steals. He just really set the tone of the whole game I thought he was really, really something."
"Defensively, they shot 26 percent but they just missed some shots they normally make. Our defense was pretty good, but it wasn't that good."
"Other than the backboard work I was pleased with them the entire game. Danny put on a show in the second half but I decided to leave him in when he got his fourth foul, because when I take him out, you know with the score of the game, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to leave him in there the last six or eight minutes. It was nice to see him bounce back today."
"We don't have Tyler Hansbrough tonight and we don't have Tyler Zeller. Deon and Ed got there minutes in the first part and they didn't do as well as I wanted to them to do."
"I'm pleased with [Ed Davis], I'm not satisfied with him. We want him to keep playing. He's really doing some good things for us. We're extremely fortunate to have him and he's going to be a big time player."
"We had made the decision to make [Tyler Hansbrough] play only two games anyway [in Hawaii]. And with his ankle in the Santa Barbara game it just made it easier to sit him out in the first game as opposed to the second or third. He felt great against Notre Dame and he played great, just about as intense as I've ever seen him. It's a hard plane ride back, those seats are so small, and we had some problems that you heard about. Came back on Friday and he could barely touch the rim his foot was so stiff. But then he practiced and it got really loose for him, and he felt good at the end of practice. But I have no idea if he will play Wednesday night. It depends on what happens Tuesday at practice and Wednesday at shootaround."
UNC Asheville Head Coach Eddie Biedenbach:
How scary is UNC even without Hansbrough?
"Against teams like us, I don't think Hansbrough makes a difference. Against other teams where they have to rotate the three big guys, it makes a big difference. Hansbrough is sorely missed on this team whether it's against us or anyone else. He's a factor in every game he ever plays. He's where emotion comes from; he's the leader. Obviously, they have a tremendous number of great players who can perform well with or without Hansbrough, but to go where these guys want to go, they need Hansbrough, and they need Tyler Zeller. It's a shame that they lost that kid to an injury when that would give them four front line guys, so if anything happens to one of the others, they still have their rotation when they go to big games, so that's a tough loss for the young man and for Carolina."
Anything else?
"From our standpoint, we have to learn to guard jump shooters. If you don't guard jump shooters, good teams with do that. There are a lot of people who can shoot the basketball. These guys are very confident and they play hard on the defensive end as well. You got to handle the ball and you got to guard jump shooters. We didn't get back fast enough. This was hopefully and great learning lesson for us, but that's a tough loss to take, no matter who you're playing."
On playing without Tyler Hansbrough
"We just played well today. We missed a lot from Tyler who's averaging a lot and gets a lot of rebounds. Coach wanted us to rebound better, but everything else I think we did well today."
On hitting shots
"It feels great. It's a tough shot to make in college basketball so we're knocking down like 50 percent of them. It feels great right now and it was exciting when Danny hit like six in a row. It feels good when our shots are going in like that."
On his streak of few turnovers
"It feels good. I'm just trying to take care of the ball and make sure my teammates get good shots, but I'm just trying to take care of the ball better than I did last year."
Danny Green
On his 3-point shooting streak
"It was a good confidence booster for me and I know my teammates had fun watching it, but it doesn't happen very often."
On his long-range shot
"Honestly, that one I shot deep I wasn't expecting to shoot that deep; that's just where I caught it. Bobby handed it off it me and I happened to be that far, so I figured why not. I took a couple heat checks and they went in, so I kept shooting `til I missed one."
On the feeling of the game
"The game was starting to come to me a lot easier and things were just going my way. I mean things weren't going my way defensively. I was getting in foul trouble and just couldn't stay out of foul trouble, but offensively it started clicking for me. They started finding me, I started getting open a lot and shots were going in for me."
Wayne Ellington
On Danny Green
"I think he's a more confident shooter. He was stepping up and knocking it down and I think that just had to do with confidence."
On Ty back from an ankle injury
"He's out there and he looks like the old Ty. He's blowing by people, getting steals and beating people all over the court."
