No. 7 Tar Heels Return To Carmichael Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina (9-1) makes its long-awaited return to Carmichael Tuesday when the Tar Heels host Kennesaw State at 2 p.m. UNC, which defeated South Carolina, 93-85, before a nine-day holiday break, is back at Carmichael for the first time since closing the 2007-08 season with an 82-51 win over Duke. Kennesaw State (4-6) is coming off an 80-67 loss at Georgia Southern on Dec. 21. Carolina is ranked No. 7 in both the AP poll and the coaches' poll. Kennesaw State is unranked.

• North Carolina is 1-0 all-time against Kennesaw State.

NOTING THE OWLS
• Sophomore guard Angie Smith leads Kennesaw State in scoring with 12.4 points per game.
• Senior center Montinique Nixon is the Lady Owls' top rebounder, pulling down 8.3 boards per contest.
• KSU has faced two ACC teams so far this season, falling at home to Clemson and Georgia Tech.
TAR HEELS TOUGH TO BEAT AT HOME
Carolina's overall home record since the beginning of the 2004-05 season is 91-3. The Tar Heels have won 45 of 46 in Chapel Hill, including their last 16 home conference games. In addition, UNC has won 85 of its last 86 non-conference home games.
CAROLINA IN CARMICHAEL
• Carolina returns to Carmichael Tuesday after a year and a half absence, during which the Tar Heels won 25 of 26 games at the Dean E. Smith Center.
• UNC is 373-83 (.818) all-time in Carmichael, its primary home since the first varsity season of 1974-75.
• Prior to the most recent renovation, the Tar Heels were on quite a roll in the historic gym. Beginning with the 2001-02 season, Carolina posted a 103-6 home record in Carmichael.
