ehind Billy Bitter's school record tying eight goals in a game, the sixth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels rallied past UMBC in the second half to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals with a 15-13 win over the Retrievrs. Carolina trailed at halftime for only the second time this season but outscored UMBC 9-5 in the second half to earn its quarterfinal berth in the NCAA Tournament a week from Sunday in Annapolis, Md. The Tar Heels will play the winner of tonight's first-round game between third-seeded Duke and Navy. Bitter scored his eight goals on nine shots, ironically missing only on an empty net opportunity in the last two minutes of the game.
