UNC Lacrosse Players Continue Outreach To Community In 2010-11

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program has gotten off to a strong start in its community service efforts in the 2010-11 school year.
Following is a summary of events the Tar Heels have been involved in this school year:
September 18th
The Tar Heels held a free clinic for the North Carolina Lacrosse Academy at the Cary Academy in Raleigh, N.C. The clinic drew 65 participants ages 8-16. Assistant Coach Brian Holman headed up the efforts and he was joined by a host of current Tar Heel players including Marcus Holman, Matt Holman, Jimmy Dunster, Colin Sherwood, Thomas Wood and James Schuler.
Every Wednesday
The lacrosse players run the ice cream cart at the North Carolina Children's Hospital every Wednesday, going room to room and passing out ice cream treats to the patients. The Tar Heels began the work three weeks ago and will continue to do so every Wednesday until springtime. Participants have included Logan Corey, Thomas Wood, R.G. Keenan, William Leighton-Armah, Jimmy Dunster, Matt Holman, Marcus Holman, Charlie McComas, Matt Davie and Kieran McDonald.
Lineberger Foundation
Last Thursday, Tar Heel players delivered gift baskets for the Lineberger Foundation as part of Tickled Pink cancer awareness month through UNC Hospitals. The participants included Milton Lyles, Thomas Wood, Logan Corey and Kevin Piegare.
Upcoming events for Tar Heel lacrosse players include reading to local elementary school students through the 2nd and 7 Foundation, working on a Habitat For Humanity House and hosting a Carolina Dreams event on campus.
