Two Incoming Golfers Advance In Match Play At N.C. Junior Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Two incoming University of North Carolina golfers have advanced to the round of 16 in match play at the 43rd North Carolina Junior Championship being played at Forest Oaks Country Club. Katherine Perry, from Cary, advanced in the Girls' Championship while James Ellis, from Greenville, advanced in the Boys' Championship.
Perry defeated Mary-Kate Holanek of Cary 8 & 6 in the Girls' Championship being played on a par 72, 2,007-yard layout. Due to a weather delay, only one round of the Girls' Championship was completed with the second round scheduled to begin Thursday morning.
Ellis defeated Michael Mullmann of Charlotte 5 & 4 in the first round and defeated Marshall Ritchie of Concord 4 & 3 in the second round of the Boys' Championship on the par 72, 7,048-yard layout.
The annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association. Ellis faces George Whiting of Charlotte in the round of 16 while Perry is up against Taylor Penzer of Summerfield.
