Carolina Golfer Michael McGowan Selected All-Region

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Michael McGowan, a sophomore on North Carolina's golf team, was selected to the PING All-East Region team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. McGowan, from Southern Pines, N.C., was one of 25 players named to the All-East Region team.
McGowan has fired six top-20 and 10 top-30 finishes in 11 tournaments this year. McGowan boasts a 72.83 stroke average and tied for 24th place at the NCAA South Central-Colorado Regional. He fired eight scores under-par, two in the 60s, and posted six even par scores. McGowan fired his low round of six-under-par 66 in the second and third rounds of the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate, the final event of the fall campaign.
