Tar Heels Earn NFHCA National Academic Team Award

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The UNC field hockey team has been honored as a recipient of the 2013 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, announced Tuesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
The award recognizes teams with an average GPA of 3.0 or better during the fall semester. UNC's team GPA was 3.196 during the fall semester and nine Tar Heels, the most in program history, earned spots on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team.
In addition to succeeding academically, the Tar Heels achieved on the field, finishing 18-6 and reaching the final four for the fifth year in a row and the 18th time in program history. UNC's 2013 season ended in the national semifinals with a 2-1 shootout loss to eventual champion Connecticut.
