GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina freshman Stephanie Watts has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Watts averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in leading North Carolina to a 2-1 record last week.

Watts' best game of the week featured her second double-double of the year for the 5-11 guard. She recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds and registered a season-high six blocks in a victory over USC Upstate on Wednesday. She followed that performance up with five made 3-pointers, and 17 points and seven rebounds in a come-from-behind victory over Southern Miss on Sunday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

For the week, the Wesley Chapel, North Carolina native made 11 three-pointers and shot 42.9 percent from behind the arc.

Watts is averaging 12.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season.

North Carolina (8-5) will host New Hampshire on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m.
