Mavunga Named Overall Champion At Year-End Banquet

The Tar Heels went 26-9 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16. UNC finished No. 9 in the final coaches' poll of the year.
Sophomore Stephanie Mavunga was recognized as the team's overall champion for the second-straight season for receiving the most cumulative points in all of the statistical categories in which totals are kept throughout the season.
Sophomore Allisha Gray was named top offensive player, while Brittany Rountree was named the team's best defender for the second year in a row.
Freshman Jamie Cherry was named the sixth player of the year, while junior N'Dea Bryant earned most improved honors.
Hillary Fuller was honored with the coaches' award, Danielle Butts was given the strength and conditioning award and Bryant received the most improved strength and conditioning award.
Dr. Beth Miller was given the 2014-15 Special Recognition Award for her 40 years of outstanding service to the North Carolina Department of Athletics.
The volunteer of the year went to Frank and Becky Brown.
And finally head coach Sylvia Hatchell was given the Most Inspirational Award for “winning the biggest game of your life.”
