US Lacrosse Accepting 2015 Breschi Scholarship Applications
June 17, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse is now accepting applications for the 2015 Michael Breschi Scholarships, awarded to two graduating high school seniors who plan to attend college and are the son or daughter of a coach. The parent or guardian can be either a male or female coach in high school or college, and should be a full-time employee of an educational institution.
The Michael Breschi Scholarships were established in 2007 to honor the life of Michael Breschi, son of Joe Breschi, head men's lacrosse coach at University of North Carolina. The scholarship was established to preserve Michael's memory and pass on the steadfast support of the lacrosse community.
Applications and information can be accessed online at uslacrosse.org/breschi.
US Lacrosse administers the scholarships, with winners selected annually by the Breschi family. Each award is provided as a one-time scholarship of $2,500 to the two recipients. An amount of $2,500 will be issued to the scholarship winner's college/university after the transcript of the first semester/quarter has been received by US Lacrosse.
Scholarship winners are responsible for checking with their college or university to verify that acceptance of this scholarship meets all institutional regulations, particularly with regard to financial aid packages. If the recipient is a scholarship-athlete, the scholarship must also meet all NCAA regulations as they pertain to that institution and the student-athlete.
In addition to the application, candidates must submit an official high school transcript, a one-page personal statement, resume and two letters of recommendation.
Extracurricular activity, internships, community service, and employment experience are all given due consideration.
