Carolina's 2016-17 Men's Golf Schedule

The University of North Carolina's 2016-17 men's golf schedule begins on September 10-11 with a two-day trip down the highway to Duke University where the Tar Heels will play in the Rod Myers Intercollegiate.
That is the first of five fall and six spring tournaments leading up to the NCAA Regionals, which are slated for May 15-17.
The Duke tournament is one of four events that were not on last year's schedule. Other new events this year include the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at the Olympia Fields Country Club, the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club and the Seahawk Intercollegiate hosted by UNCW at the Country Club of Landfall.
In addition to those four events, Carolina will be playing host to the Tar Heel Intercollegiate for the first time in two years. Last year's tournament was cancelled due to torrential rain and unplayable conditions.
“We're excited about the mixture of new events and tournaments we are returning to this season,” says Andrew Sapp, who begins his sixth season as Carolina's head coach. “We will have a busy fall with five tournaments highlighted by the Tar Heel Intercollegiate October 8-9 at UNC Finley Golf Course, and we are close to home for our opener as we play at Duke.
“We play coast-to-coast over spring break trip as we start in San Diego the first part of the week and then it's back to the North Carolina coast to play in Wilmington.
The Tar Heels return four starters from a year ago's team that won one event, had seven top fives and competed in the NCAA Arizona Regional: senior Henry Do (Canton, Mich.), juniors Ben Griffin (Chapel Hill) and William Register (Burlington, N.C.) and sophomore Joshua Martin (Pinehurst, N.C.).
“We have a number of veterans returning and we added two talented newcomers in freshman Austin Hitt and Jose Montaño, a transfer from Xavier who played well in the last two NCAA Regionals," says Sapp. "Our players and coaches are looking forward to these challenging events that will help us prepare for post-season play at the end of the spring schedule.”
