CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina and UNCW face off in a pre-Thanksgiving matinee on Wednesday at 2 p.m. As part of Giving Thanks Day, UNC is offering FREE admission to all fans.Â

Despite 31 points and 11 assists from Paris Kea, North Carolina was upended, 85-84, by South Alabama on Sunday. Chyna Ellis (career-high 23 points), a preseason first team All-Sun Belt selection, scored the final bucket of the game on a layup with 5.0 seconds remaining. Jamie Cherry's last second three-pointer to win the game was off target. South Alabama benefitted from making 13 three-pointers, offsetting a 42-32 Tar Heel advantage in paint points. Freshman forward Janelle Bailey earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors on Monday. A preseason selection for the ACC Newcomer Watch List, Bailey averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Tar Heels. She recorded her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Radford, the preseason favorite to win the Big South Conference. Bailey added 17 points and five rebounds against South Alabama on Sunday.
Among ACC freshman, Bailey ranks second in the league in scoring with 14.5 points per game. She is shooting a robust 57.8 percent from the field through four games and ranks 10th in the ACC with 1.3 blocks per game.
