UNC Heads To Wake For Sunday Matinee

North Carolina visits in-state and ACC rival Wake Forest on Sunsday at 12:30 p.m. in the 77th all-time meeting between the two programs. UNC and Wake are both 2-2 in the league. On Thursday, Carolina picked up a 59-52 win over Clemson, while Wake fell at home to Duke, 80-67.

SERIES HISTORY
Carolina leads 62-14 all-time in the series with Wake Forest. The Tar Heels have lost back-to-back games to the Demon Deacons for the first time in the series since being swept in a home-and-home in 1990-91.

North Carolina improved to 2-2 in ACC play with a 59-52 victory over Clemson Thursday night inside Carmichael Arena. Senior Jamie Cherry led the Tar Heels with 20 points, giving her an even 1,400 for her career. Freshman Janelle Bailey notched her fifth double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Paris Kea added 14 points and Taylor Koenen ripped down a game-high 12 rebounds to tie a career-high.
LAST MEETING WITH WAKE FOREST
Wake Forest scored the final five points of the game to escape with an 80-77 victory over North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Jan. 20, 2017. Stephanie Watts scored 25 points, Paris Kea had 21 points and Jamie Cherry offered up 12.
Elisa Penna had 23 points to lead Wake Forest. Milan Quinn had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Ariel Stephenson added 17 off the bench.
Carolina led by as many as 14 points, 38-24, in the first half and 44-38 at halftime, but Wake chopped its deficit down to a single point in the third quarter. Alex Sharp's 3-pointer with 15 seconds left gave the Demon Deacons their first win in Chapel Hill since 1991.

Sylvia Hatchell won her 1,000th career game with a 79-63 victory over Grambling State on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Hatchell, a 2013 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee, is only the third women's basketball coach in history to reach 1,000 career victories, joining former Tennessee legend Pat Summitt and Stanford's Tara VanDerveer. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski is the only men's coach among Division I basketball coaches to hit the 1,000 mark. Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma got his 1,000th victory later that night with a win over Oklahoma.

• She has earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors a league-most four times.Â
• Bailey had a season-high 25 points against Hartford, and registered 13 rebounds against the Hawks.
• Bailey ranks 6th in the ACC with five double-doubles
• She is 15th in the ACC with 1.3 blocks per game
