Tar Heels Host Davidson Saturday To Close 2018

GAME 12 NOTEBOOK
• Carolina plays its final game of calendar year 2018 when it plays host to Davidson onÂ
December 29 at Noon in the Smith Center. The Tar Heels are 23-11 in 2018, including 15-8 last season and 8-3 to begin the 2018-19 schedule.
• This is Carolina's fourth game in 31 days after opening the season playing eight times in 23 days.
• Carolina's 66 wins against Davidson are the most by the Tar Heels against any non-ACC opponent. Most of those 66 wins came when both schools were members of the Southern Conference.
• The Tar Heels are 410-71 all-time in the Smith Center, including 203-16 against non-conference opponents (Davidson had one of those 16 non-conference wins in 2001-02).
• Luke Maye and Florida State's Terance Mann are the only active ACC players with 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds. Maye has scored 1,016 points (eighth most among active ACC players) and has 672 rebounds (most among active ACC players).
• Last Saturday in Chicago, Kentucky scored 23 points off 18 Tar Heel turnovers, the fourth time in 11 games this season the opponents scored 20 or more points off turnovers. That happened five times in 37 games a season ago.
• Cameron Johnson led UNC with 17 points against Kentucky. That was the third consecutive game Johnson was the Tar Heels' top scorer and the sixth time he has led the team in the first 11 games. He did that three times last season (twice against Clemson and at Duke).
• Kenny Williams is averaging 4.8 assists, fourth best in the ACC, and twice as many as any of his previous seasons as a Tar Heel. He averaged 1.6 per game in his first three seasons. As a sophomore, when he started 22 of 26 games, he averaged 2.2 per game. Last season, he averaged 2.4 in 38 games.Â
• Williams led UNC with five assists (and only one turnover) against Kentucky. It was the sixth time this season he led UNC in assists (he did that four times in his first three seasons).

• Carolina leads the series, 66-11, including 8-0 under head coach Roy Williams.
• UNC has out-rebounded Davidson by 113 in the last eight games.
• The teams played 67 times from 1911 to 1969, then did not play again until 11/20/2001, when Davidson won, 58-54, in Chapel Hill.
