Four Advance At ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. - The North Carolina women's tennis team saw all four of its seeded singles players advance at the 2019 ITA Women's All-American Championships in first-round action Wednesday at the Case Tennis Center at Lafortune Park.
The morning wave began with Makenna Jones and Cameron Morra earning straight-set victories. Jones, the No. 2 seed in the 64-player field, squeezed out a pair of tiebreak wins to top No. 71 Chiara Tomasetti of Northern Arizona, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3).
Also in the bottom half of the bracket, No. 10 seed Cameron Morra cruised past No. 21 Oleksandra Korashvili of Oklahoma, 6-4, 6-0.
Third seed Alexa Graham saved two match points to hold off the upset bid of Mississippi State's 41st ranked Emma Antonaki, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3.
After a full day of lengthy rain delays, No. 5 seed Sara Daavettila finally took the court at 10 pm ET and took little time in a 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 38 Michaela Haet from Rice.
The rain forced the cancellation of main draw doubles that will now begin on Thursday morning.
