Greaser and Gerard in the Top Six After 36 Holes
Tar Heels Austin Greaser, Ryan Gerard and Ryan Burnett are in the top eight and Carolina is in second place after 36 holes Monday at the Fighting Irish Classic at Warren Golf Course on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The Irish lead at 14 under par, seven strokes clear of the Tar Heels after Monday's first and second rounds. UNC shot a 5-under-279 to lead by four strokes after the morning round, but the Irish were 11 better than Carolina in the afternoon to build the seven-shot advantage.

Rutgers is third at 5 over par and Boston College and Iowa are tied for fourth at 6 over. Notre Dame and UNC are the only teams in the field to shoot under par in both rounds.

Greaser shot 68-70–138 and is fifth at 4 under par. He made three birdies and had no bogeys in the morning round. Gerard, who shot 61 in the final round of this event last year to finish second, is tied for sixth at 3-under-139 with rounds of 68-71.

Burnett, the ACC Player of the Month in September, followed a 71 with a 69, UNC's best round in the afternoon. Burnett is tied for eighth at 2-under-140. He was 3 over par after nine holes in the second round, but birdied 10, 13, 15, 17 and 18 to shoot 31 on the back nine.

Dougie Ergood (73-72–145) is tied for 30th and Austin Hitt (72-75–147) is tied for 38th.

Rutgers' Christopher Gotterup is 11 under after shooting 68 and 63.

Third-round action is Tuesday. The Tar Heels are paired with Notre Dame and Rutgers.
