Tar Heels Will Host Orange On Senior Day Saturday

• Sixth-ranked North Carolina (10-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will hope to move up in the ACC standings when it hosts third-ranked Syracuse (13-2, 5-1 ACC) on Saturday at noon in Chapel Hill.
• UNC is 3-2 in the ACC after last weekend's win at Louisville. Syracuse (5-1 ACC) is ranked third in the nation and second in the ACC behind undefeated and top-ranked Boston College (5-0 ACC).
• The game will mark the final regular season home appearance for the 2019 Carolina Lacrosse graduating class. Before the game, the Tar Heels will celebrate senior day for a group of nine, including Gianna Bowe, Amanda Dionne, Olivia Ferrucci, Ida Farinholt, Elise Hennessey, Erin Kelly, Kara Klages, Charlotte Sofield and manager Sidney Swormstedt, whose playing career was cut short a year ago due to injury.
• The Tar Heels are ranked No. 6 in the IWLCA poll and No. 5 in the Inside Lacrosse D1 Media poll this week. Syracue is No. 3 in both polls.
• The ACC Network Extra will stream the game live. Chris Hooks and Dean Linke will have the call.
• UNC is playing its first home game after three consecutive road contests (wins at Virginia Tech and Louisville and a loss at Notre Dame). With a road game remaining next weekend at Duke, four of Carolina's last five ACC regular season games will be on the road. The ACC Tournament will be in two weeks in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
• The initial NCAA women's lacrosse RPI rankings, released this week, are No. 1 Boston College, No. 2, Maryland, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Syracuse and No. 5 UNC.

TICKET DETAILS FOR SYRACUSE GAME
• The UNC athletic department has announced ticket details for the Tar Heels' final regular-season women's lacrosse home game at the new UNC Lacrosse Stadium versus Syracuse.
• UNC will host the Orange on April 13 at noon as part of a doubleheader for women's and men's lacrosse with games at noon and 3 p.m., respectively. One purchased ticket will allow access to both games. General admission tickets for both games will be priced at $5.
• UNC faculty, staff and students will be admitted free with their UNC One Card or Hospital ID per Carolina's standard operating procedure for Olympic Sports. Children six and under are allowed within the Stadium for no admission fee.
• Tickets are now available and can be purchased online, in advance at the Athletic Ticket Office in the Ernie Williamson Center, via the Athletic Ticket Office phone (1-800-722-4335) or at the main gate of the UNC Lacrosse Stadium on gameday.
• All tickets will be general admission and will allow each fan the opportunity to sit within a seat located on the North and South side of the Stadium.
• Athletic officials are expecting the possibility that seating capacity of 4,000 fans could be reached on April 13. Additional standing room is available on the concourse of the stadium and there is a generous amount of standing room only space.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SYRACUSE
• Carolina leads the all-time series with Syracuse, 7-6, including a pair of Tar Heel wins in 2018 (one in the Carrier Dome in the regular season and one in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals in Durham, N.C.).
• UNC has won three games in a row against Syracuse and five of the last six meetings in the series (since the start of the 2016 season). After Syracuse won four of the first five meetings in the series between 2001-14, Carolina has won six of the last eight meetings starting in 2015.
• Carolina is 3-2 against Syracuse in ACC regular season games since the Orange joined the conference prior to the 2014 season.
• These two teams have met twice in each of the last five seasons (regular season and ACC Tournament each year since 2014).
LAST YEAR IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
TAR HEELS BLITZ ORANGE, 21-12 (April 26, 2018, Durham, N.C.)
• Second-seeded North Carolina got seven points each from Ela Hazar and Katie Hoeg and six goals from Jamie Ortega in a 21-12 win over seventh-seeded Syracuse in the quarterfinals of the 2018 ACC Tournament on the campus of Duke University.
• The Tar Heels went on to beat Virginia Tech and Boston College to win the ACC title three days later in Durham.
• Hazar had three goals and four assists, and Hoeg had two goals and a then-career-high five assists. Ortega scored six goals, one off her season high, and Kara Klages tied her career high with five goals. Marie McCool had two goals, one assist and six draw controls.
• Hoeg's five assists tied the overall tournament record, and her seven points equaled the most ever in the quarterfinals. Hazar's seven points and Ortega's six goals also tied quarterfinal records.
• Carolina's 21 goals are its highest total in its 44-game ACC Tournament history and tie the most by any team in any ACC Tournament game.
• UNC outshot the Orange, 43-24, including 29-10 in the first half as the Tar Heels ran out to a big lead.
• Elise Hennessey (10-2) started for Carolina in goal and picked up the win, making three saves and allowing six goals in the first half. Taylor Moreno entered the game to start the second half and made five saves with six goals allowed. Moreno started the final five games of the 2018 season for the Tar Heels on the way to an ACC title and the NCAA final four in Stony Brook, N.Y.
LAST YEAR IN THE CARRIER DOME:
CAROLINA 20, SYRACUSE 11 (April 14, 2018)
• Carolina went on a 7-2 run in the second half and Kara Klages scored a career-high five goals in a 20-11 win at No. 15 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on April 14, 2018. Marie McCool added five goals, one assist and 12 draw controls for UNC.
• After Carolina led, 8-5, at halftime and Syracuse scored the first goal of the second half to cut its deficit to two goals, the Tar Heels went on their 7-2 run to take a 15-8 lead and seize the game's momentum. UNC outscored the Orange, 12-6, in the second half.
• The Tar Heels also got four goals and one assist from Maggie Bill and two goals and three assists from Ela Hazar. Katie Hoeg scored once and dished out three assists, Jamie Ortega had two goals and an assist and Olivia Ferrucci had one goal and one assist.
HOEG NEARING 100 CAREER ASSISTS
• Junior attacker Kate Hoeg is one of the top playmakers in UNC history and already ranks second in Tar Heel history in assists.
• Hoeg enters Saturday's game at Louisville with 98 career assists. Ela Hazar (2015-18) is Carolina's career assist leader with 121.
• Hoeg passed Becky Lynch (92) for second place in the win at Virginia Tech on March 27.
