Nine Tar Heels Invited To U.S. Team Tryouts

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Nine Tar Heels, including three on the current UNC roster, are among the pool of 50 players invited to try out for the U.S. team that will compete at the 2021 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship next summer. Tryouts are set for Dec. 4-6 at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
Current and former Carolina players invited to attend are:
• Kristen Carr, a defender who played for the Tar Heels from 2007-10.
• Molly Hendrick, an attacker from 2014-17.
• Katie Hoeg, an attacker and current fifth-year player on the team.
• Kerrigan Miller, a midfielder who is part of the 2021 UNC team as a graduate student.
• Marie McCool, a midfielder for the Tar Heels from 2015-18.
• Emily Parros, a midfielder for the Tar Heels from 2010-13 who recently joined the UNC staff as an assistant coach.
• Emma Trenchard, a defender and current senior on the team.
• Courtney Waite, a defender who played for the Tar Heels from 2012-15.
• Caylee Waters, a goalkeeper who played for the Tar Heels 2014-17.

North Carolina coach Jenny Levy serves as the head coach of the U.S. team.
The World Championship is scheduled for July 7-17, 2021, at Towson University in Towson, Md. It will be the first time since 2005 that the event has been held in the U.S.
The United States has won the last three World Lacrosse championships (2009, 2013 and 2017) and has won a record eight World Cups since the championship was first contested in Nottingham, England in 1982.
