UNC Hosts Virginia Tech Thursday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, hosting Virginia Tech for a 6 PM tipoff at Carmichael Arena. The Tar Heels (7-3, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) are looking to earn their first win of 2021.
The game will be televised live by the ACC Network and fans can also watch online here.
The Tar Heels and Hokies are meeting for the 28th time in a series that dates back to the 1979-80 season. UNC leads 19-8 but the Hokies have won four of the past five, including both meetings last season.
• In the last meeting at Carmichael, on Feb. 9, 2020, the Hokies won 72-63.
• UNC's last win in the series came during the 2018-19 season in Blacksburg, Va., 81-69 on Jan. 24, 2019.
• UNC's last homecourt win over Virginia Tech was in the 2015-16 season, 71-67 on Feb. 12, 2016. Tar Heel graduate student Stephanie Watts, then a freshman, led UNC with 18 points and eight rebounds.
• After Thursday's game, the Tar Heels play their next two on the road, traveling to Syracuse on Tuesday and then at Virginia Tech next Thursday (Jan. 21). UNC's next home game is Jan. 24 when Notre Dame visits Carmichael for a noon tipoff.
