Keefer's Standout Jump Leads Tar Heels Saturday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Anna Keefer's personal best of 6.38m (20-11 ¼) in the long jump provided the day's highlight as North Carolina wrapped up indoor track & field competition at the Hokie Invitational Saturday. The first-place jump by Keefer ranks fourth in UNC program history and fifth in the NCAA this year.

Competing at Rector Field House, the Tar Heels took second in the men's 4x400 relay, with Onyedikachi Ohia-Enyia, Isaiah Palmer, Craig Saddler II finishing in 3:11.18.

Junior Troy Yearwood placed seventh in the shot put with a personal best of 17.00m (55-9 ¼ ). Teammate Madias Loper was 10^th in that event in 16.22m (53-2 ¾ ).

UNC also had two top-10 finishes in the men's long jump, with Matthew Harris placing fifth with a jump of 7.12m (23-4 ½ ) and Jaren Holmes in eighth at 7.05m (23-1 ¾ ).

Saturday's success follows a Friday in which the Tar Heels' Brandon Tubby and Conor Lundy went one-two in the men's mile with Allen Siegler in fifth. The Tar Heels took two of the top five spots in the women's 3,000 meters, with fifth-year senior Paige Hofstad third in 9:32.21 and Mady Clahane fifth in 9:35.20.
