Men's Tennis Heads To ACC Championships

• North Carolina's men's tennis team will begin play in the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Friday afternoon in Rome, Ga.
• The third-seeded Tar Heels will face either No. 6 seed Virginia Tech or No. 11 seed Clemson on Friday at approximately 5 p.m.
• Carolina is ranked No. 4 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
Carolina Grabs No. 3 Seed In ACC Championship
• North Carolina is the No. 3 seed in the 2021 ACC Championship. The Tar Heels will begin play on Friday at 5 p.m. against either No. 6 seed Virginia Tech or No. 11 seed Clemson at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
• Teams receiving double-byes to Friday's quarterfinal round along with UNC include No. 1 seed Virginia, No. 2 seed Wake Forest and No. 4 seed NC State.
• Action in the 2021 ACC Men's Tennis Championship will continue with a pair of 2 p.m. semifinal matches on Saturday and will conclude with Sunday's 2 p.m. championship match
• The championship match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra, with Sam Gore handling play-by-play and Luke Jensen serving as analyst.
No Public Tickets
• Due to COVID protocols, no public tickets will be available for the 2021 ACC Tennis Championships.Â
• Admission to each match of the event will be limited to family and guests of team personnel.Â
• Each team will be allowed two complimentary pass admissions per travel party member (no more than 26 per team). Those individuals can be in the venue for their team's match only.Â
• The ACC will be using the indoor courts at the Rome Tennis Center (six courts) and also Georgia Tech's indoor courts (if needed). The ACC will not allow spectators at the Georgia Tech indoor courts, spectators will be allowed in the Rome indoor courts.Â
• Spectators will be required to mask.
2021 ITA Indoor National Champs
• Brian Cernoch won the clinching singles match for the second day in a row as Carolina beat Baylor, 4-1, in the title match of the ITA Indoor National Championships on February 14 in Champaign, Ill.
• Cernoch was named Most Outstanding Player of the event afterward.
• Cernoch, Benjamin Sigouin and William Blumberg all won their singles matches as the Tar Heels captured their second ITA Indoor National Championship, joining the 2016 squad.
UNC's ACC Tournament History
• Carolina has won three ACC Tournaments (1990, 1992, 2002).
• UNC reached the ACC Tournament final in 1991, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2007, 2014 and 2018.
