Gymnastics Earns Road Victory At NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina gymnastics team defeated NC State on the road Saturday night 196.625-196.350, posting the program's highest team score since Feb. 27, 2004.
Freshman Lali Dekanoidze earned her fourth all-around title with a 39.475, while also taking the beam and floor titles and sharing the vault title with teammate Julia Knower.
Carolina is 6-0 in EAGL meets this season.
The Tar Heels started the meet out strong on bars, with five Tar Heels posting a 9.80, while Elizabeth Culton had a team-best 9.825. The team score was a 49.025 total on the apparatus.
Carolina then moved to vault where the team had a season-best performance with a 49.225. Three Tar Heels set new career-bests on the event, Kate Greene (9.800), Jay Weil (9.850) and Knower (9.875), while Emery Summey matched her career-best (9.825).
Hannah Nam opened floor with a 9.825 for Carolina in the leadoff spot, while Dekanoidze set a new career best with a 9.90. The Tar Heels scored 49.175 in the rotation.
Carolina finished the meet on beam, the event they rank No. 1 in EAGL on. Jamie Shearer set a new-career best with a 9.850, while Dekanoidze posted a meet-best 9.90. As a team, the Tar Heels finished with a 49.200.
This meet was the first time this season that Carolina has scored a 49 or better on all four events.
