Blue Takes A 5-4 Win On Sunday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The North Carolina Tar Heels finished their second week of preseason scrimmages as Blue defeated Navy 5-4 in a five-and-a-half inning scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Blue took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Vance Honeycutt singled to left to drive in Angel Zarate with the first run of the scrimmage, then Danny Serretti scored from third on a double steal.
Navy responded with three runs in the top of the third. Max Riemer drove in Hunter Stokely with a sacrifice fly to right, then Mikey Madej scored from third on a passed ball. Eric Grintz then plated Reece Holbrook with a single to right for the final run of the inning.
Blue recorded a three-run inning of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Johnny Castagnozzi scored from third on a wild pitch for the first run of the inning. Tomas Frick hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Casey Cook, then Patrick Alvarez drove in Alberto Osuna with another sacrifice fly to right to give Blue a 5-3 lead. Navy scored its fourth and final run in the fifth when Reece Holbrook's sacrifice fly to right scored Hunter Stokely with the last run of the day.
Blue outhit Navy by a 7-4 margin. Blue had two errors to none for Navy. Vance Honeycutt and Hunter Stokely each had doubles for the only extra base hits for the day.
Will Sandy got the start for Blue with Caden O'Brien and Kyle Mott throwing in relief. Connor Ollio started for Navy, and Tanner Quick and Shawn Rapp threw in relief.
Carolina's next three scrimmages witll be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
