Gymnastics Finishes Conference Season Undefeated With Win Sunday Win At LIU

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Carolina gymnastics team remained undefeated in the EAGL on Sunday afternoon, earning a 196.475-195.075 victory on the road at LIU. With the victory, the Tar Heels officially clinched the EAGL regular season title outright.
The Tar Heels took home four event titles in the win: vault (Emery Summey), beam (Liz Culton), Floor (Hannah Nam) and the all-around (Julia Knower), while seven Carolina gymnasts either set or matched their career bests.

The Tar Heels wrap up the regular season on the road at Georgia for a dual meet on March 12 at 4 p.m. The meet will be streamed on SECN+.

Carolina Performance Notes:
- The Tar Heels posted a season-best 49.300 on bars in the first rotation of the meet. It was Carolina's best bar score since March 5, 2004
- Elizabeth Culton (9.95), Isabelle Schaefer (9.925) and Kate Greene (9.875) each set new career-bests on bars
- Emery Summey set a new career-best on vault (9.875), while Schaefer posted a 9.825 in her first vault of her career
- On beam, Culton set a new career-best (9.975), earning a 10 from one judge. It is the second-highest score in school history, matching Courtney Bumpers who earned a 9.975 on March 5, 2004. Brooke Wilson is the only Tar Heel with a 10 on the event in school history (2/3/2001)
- On floor, Hannah Nam matched her career-best of 9.875 in the leadoff spot despite a technical glitch where the music stopped mid-routine
- Jay Weil matched her career-best of 9.825 on floor, anchoring the lineup for Carolina
- The Tar Heels have scored a 49.025 or better on bars in three straight meets
- Julia Knower earned her third overall all-around title and second straight title
