Ustby Named To All-ACC Academic Team
April 12, 2022 | Women's Basketball, Academics
North Carolina's Alyssa Ustby put together a standout sophomore season on the court, and now she's capped it with academic honors. The Tar Heel women's basketball guard/forward, who ranked second in the conference in 2021-22 with 13 double-doubles, has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, announced Tuesday by the league.
Ustby, who has not yet declared a major, earned the All-ACC Academic honor for the second year in a row.
Carolina finished the 2021-22 season 25-7 and reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2015. During the course of that memorable campaign, Ustby led the Tar Heels in rebounding with 8.6 boards per game, fourth in the ACC. She ranked second on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game and totaled 13 double-doubles, second-most in the conference.
Ustby was named to the All-ACC second team for her play in 2021-22. Early in the year she was the Goombay Splash MVP as the Tar Heels won a pair of games at the Thanksgiving event in Bimini, Bahamas, and she also was on the preseason Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, for the honor that goes to the nation's top small forward. In addition to All-ACC Academic honors in 2021, Ustby was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 2020-21 school year. (The honor roll for the 2021-22 school year will be announced in July.)

The academic honor is one more confirmation of Ustby's all-around success this year. On Saturday, she showed her athletic versatility in winning a Punt, Pass and Kick competition at UNC's spring football game.
